During the Second World War the Tannenberg’s line was a reserve fortification line for German army. The major line went along the Narva River, built for the protection of Estonia and Latvia. It received its name in the honour of victorious battles during WWI and was constructed by a battle group belonging to Narva army unit called “Nord”.
After soldiers left the main fortification line along the Narva River, Tannenberg’s line became the major one. It was protected up to the time of the German army’s retreat. Tracks of numerous
entrenchments can still be found in the forests and fields along the road. You can see the restored entrenchments around the cache’s location, at the beginning of Tannenberg’s line.
Don't expect much of cooperation from your GPS.
