Geocache Description:


Sheriff William Hinton started life in Uinta County as a Surveyor for the Union Pacific Railroad during the laying of the tracks in Uinta County.

Later he moved to Carbon to oversee the companies Uinta Coal and Mining interests.

In 1868 he returned to the area north of present day Evanston at the companies mines at Almy.

In 1874 when he was elected to the office of Sheriff he moved to Evanston.

After serving a term as Sheriff William Hinton practiced law in Evanston and for Uinta County.

This cache is in the original spirit of the Game. This cache site is Handicap Van friendly, Wheel Chair friendly, Cane and Walker friendly, and a safe site for children. Flip Flop sandals are not recommended and are unsafe.

The site is accessible by a dirt road, wash boarded in spots, and it is recommended that you keep your speed below 15 Miles Per Hour.

As with all Wyoming dirt roads - - after time periods of heavy rain and in snow conditions - - the road may become impassable for low clearance vehicles and passenger cars.

This is NOT a Travel Bug or full size Geo Coins or a Trade Cache. Small (Mini) Geo Coins and small metal pins will fit. Be sure to sign in as visits will be cross checked.

Within this cache is an object that is NOT to be removed. This Cache is part of a Mystery Cache in which the seeker must find each of twelve parts to find the final location of the Mystery Cache. The object has information – 1/12 – of the final location.

The GPS devices use satellites to pin point (within a few feet) a device location. This location is given in Compass bearings such as North xx.xx.xxx and a West bearing. With each of the North and West digits known a cross bearing can be made to pinpoint a Cache site.
