Geocache Description:

BSA Alumni Connection
For 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America has helped youth become more than they ever thought possible...and we’ll continue that journey into the next century.

Scouting alumni are former Scouts, but also supportive family members, dedicated volunteers and professionals, and the tens of millions of Americans that benefit from Scouting in their communities everyday. This cache is to honor people from around the world who support youth in the pursuit of excellence for their efforts.

Ten Mile River Scout Camps is a 14,000 acre reservation that has been serving the scouts of Greater New York Councils since 1927. In its heyday, it served upwards of 10,000 scouts per summer. Today, the number of campers is much less but the traditions of this scouting paradise remains. That's many scouts and many, many alumni.

The cache is located in the picnic area adjacent to the Ten Mile River Museum in the camp headquarters area. This is the only part of the reservation that is open to the public. The cache can be accessed year-round, although off-season is preferable. If you do come when the museum is open, drop by and take a look. It should not be done at night.

Look for some special treasures within.

In addition to BSA ALUMNI, we’ve also hidden other caches highlighting Scouting programs. Find them all. Search GNYC-BSA, on Geocaching.com.
