Phone Call to Burma Traditional Cache

This cache is temporarily unavailable.

Big Penguin: The City of Rancho Palos Verdes has closed this open space preserve and gated off the trail entrances and hiking trails. Not sure how long the closure will last. I wil continue to monitor and plan to re-enable this cache when the city reopens this park.

For reviewers: This may be a long-term situation. Please retain this cache/do not delete it as it is not preventing others from placing new caches in the same area as the entire nature preserve and trails are closed to everyone. Nobody else will be able to get in to place caches. See cache note left by someone in Feb 2025.

Geocache Description:

The cache is hidden on the upper part of the Burma Road Trail in Rancho Palos Verdes. This is the easy start of the trail just past the trailhead and is hard pack dirt and flat for an easy walk with some amazing scenery.

MAKE SURE YOU CHECK FOR PARKING PERMIT SIGNS WHEN YOU ARE IN THE AREA. THE PARKING PERMIT REGULATIONS ARE STRICTLY ENFORCED. Free (no permit required)  parking is available on Crest Rd to the East of Crenshaw Bl, and on Crenshaw Bl North of Crest Rd. All other street parking along Crenshaw Bl from Crest Rd south to the end of Crenshaw (start of the trail) is paid/permit required parking and is enforced. Parking in the residential area across from Del Cerro Park is resident permit only. Del Cero Park is also off limits except to residents. Parking on Crest Rd (east of Crenshaw) is approximately a 10-minute walk to the geocache.

The cache is an Altoids container, and big enough for the log and a couple small, flat items. There are muggles, dog-walkers, bike riders, and hikers in the area on nice days, so a little geo-discretion may be necessary when retrieving and replacing the cache. Please practice CITO if you can to help keep this area pristine.

For the prepared and fit cachers, the entire Burma Road trail extends approximately 2 ½ miles down and west while dropping approx 1,400 feet in elevation. This part of the trail is challenging but worth the hike if you are up to it. To learn more about the trails on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, check out the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy at www.pvplc.org. The scenery is lovely, especially the view of Catalina Island on a clear day!
