DT1 and DT2 enjoying a paddle heading north not far from the launch site.

You are looking for a .30 cal ammo can that you do not need to paddle or take a long hike to.

You will be in Wetlands Park which is north of Ellison Park. However, this area can be the beginning of a beautiful adventure. From here you can go to either waypoint listed below for an area to launch a kayak/canoe or to go for a wike (walk/hike) along the white trail connecting to the Old Rifle Range Trail. Heading north these pathways will bring you to Irondequoit Bay (approximately 3.5 miles).

Heading South via kayak/canoe you will enter Ellison Park. Both destinations are win/win. In either case there is much wildlife to experience. We have had the pleasure on many occasions to get close to swan, blue heron, beavers, a six point buck and other deer, turtles, and other small woodland creatures. Should you choose to hike be sure to bring bug spray and look each other over for possible ticks during certain seasons and wear proper clothing in the winter as some parts of the trail can be icy. We have found all four seasons to be the right time to hike this trail.

You can find trail maps at http://www.penfield.org/index.php?pr=dpt-gis-maps and look for maps_Irondequoit_Creek_Waterway, maps_Irondequoit_Creek_Wetlands_East-1, or maps_Rifle_Range_Trail.
