Geocache Description:

Magnetic key case, log only, BYOP

This is one in a series of common caches on a loop around Hoffman Rd. and Trout Brook Rd. outside Schroon Lake. The caches will introduce you to some local ponds, streams and interesting places. This is a dam good place to visit. Stop and read some history of the area. An original grist and sawmill was established here in 1804. The town of Olmsteadville was settled in 1810. In 1815 a dam was built called the "White Dam" to provide power to the mills. A new dam, the "Lavery Dam" was built in 1879. The Alpine Hide Tannery was built here in 1847.
