In diesem ehemaligen Steinbruch ist bis Ende der 1950er Jahre Basalt abgebaut worden. Wegen seiner großen Festigkeit und Wetterbeständigkeit fand das Vulkangestein in der Vergangenheit als Baumaterial zur Befestigung von Deichen und Dämmen, als Straßenpflaster und im Festungs- und Kirchenbau vielfältige Verwendung. Unter den vulkanischen Gesteinen sind die Basalte am häufigsten vertreten. Der Name Basalt leitet sich von dem griechischen Wort "basanites - Stein aus Basan", ab. Basan ist eine im Alten Testament erwähnte Landschaft, die östlich des oberen Jordan im heutigen Syrien liegt.
Den Steinbruch findet ihr in der Nähe der "Dedenbacher Hütte" im "Steinerbüschelche" bei N50°29.395 E 007°10.199. An der Hütte (N 50°29.319 E 007°09.846) kann man parken und von hier aus hat man einen wunderschönen Blick über die Region und auf das "Steinerbüschelche".
Achtung! Es werden genau die Angaben gesucht, die auf der Tafel gemacht werden! Internet Lösungen werden nicht akzeptiert.
Um die Logfreigabe für diesen Cache zu erhalten, beantworte folgende Fragen bzw. erfülle folgende Aufgaben:
- Was geschah bei der Abkühlung und Erstarrung der Lava und was war das Ergebnis ?
- Wo befanden sich die Verladerampen, welcher Lokomotiven Typ wurde zum Transport verwendet und wohin ging die erste Lieferung Kopfsteinpflastersteine ?
- Um Logfreigabe zu bekommen, werde kreativ und erstelle eine Zeichnung, Skulptur oder ähnliches von etwas das mit dem Earthcache "Steinerbüschelche - Säulenbasalt" zu tun hat und füge ein Bild davon deinem Log bei.

Until the end of the 1950 years basalt was mined in this former quarry. Due to it´s stability and weatherproofness the volcanic rock was used as building material for fixing dikes and dams, as street pavement and in fortress- and churchbuilding in the past. Among the volcanic rocks the basalts are the most frequent. The name basalt derives from the greek word "basanites - stone from Basan". Basan is a landscape mentioned in the old testament, situated easterly of the upper Jordan in todays Syrien.
You will find the quarry near the "Dedenbacher Hütte"(hut) in the "Steinerbüschelche"(small forest) at N50°29.395 E 007°10.199. Nearby the hut (N 50°29.319 E 007°09.846) you will find a possibility to park and a great view over the landscape and the "Steinerbüschelche".

To get the permission to log this cache, answer the following questions or fulfil the following tasks:
- What happened during the cooling and stiffness of the lava and what was the result ?
- What were the locations of the loading ramps, state the type of train that was used for the transportation and name the destination of the first delivery of cobblestones ?
- To get log permission get creative and upload a picture of a drawing, sculpture, etc. of something relating to the earthcache "Steinerbüschelche - Säulenbasalt".
