Geocache Description:

Muskingum Meat-n-Greet

When: July 18th, 2010 - Noon - ?

Where: New Concord Village Reservoir

This is going to be a very informal event. Just a gathering of geocachers that love the sport/hobby and love good food! The event will be held at a pavilion at the New Concord Village Reservoir in New Concord, Ohio.

UPDATE     UPDATE     UPDATE

I just learned that the local Arts & Recreation Department, NCAARD, will be hosting a guided nature walk and a campfire while we are there. They welcome us to join them to learn from their naturalist guide, and I welcomed them to join us to learn about Geocaching. Should be tons of fun!!

Fishing is only allowed by permit and is only open to residents of the East Muskingham School District (the reseroir got depleted and they are trying to increase fish population). Kayaks and canoes are permitted and there is a nice hiking trail around the reservoir.

This will be a potluck picnic. Bring your favorite food and/or dessert for everyone to share. We are bringing electricity so slow-cookers, warmers, etc would have power. There will also be limited WiFi capabilities at the pavilion. There are restrooms on-site, but they are primitive. There will be a grill there and I will supply hot dogs and burgers and a big jug of Crystal Light (no alcoholic beverages are allowed in the park).

Pets are welcome as long as they are leashed and cleaned up after. There are a few permanent caches at the reservoir and one at the S Bridge where you turn off of US-40. For those interested, I would also recommend visiting (GCPYXE) Tons of Fun located about 20 miles south of New Concord – It's a GREAT cache! I will be placing a few temp. caches in the park for everyone to go stretch their legs after a good meal!

Please let me know how many will be attending. Hope to see everyone there and we will all have a great time. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO BRING TO EAT SO I CAN LIST IT. THIS WILL KEEP EVERYONE FROM BRINGING THE SAME THING.
