With Glowing Hearts Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Capers4: I'm sorry to say that I'm going to archive this cache. It was my first hide. It had gone missing before and been brought back so I was hopeful that a miracle would happen a second time. It had a good run but I just don't think the location is suitable for an ammo can anymore.
Thanks to all who visited :)

Geocache Description:

THE ROADS SOUTH OF HARBOUR AND EAST OF RITSON ARE CLOSED TO TRAFFIC ON CANADA DAY. THERE IS A SHUTTLE BUS AVAILABLE. CHECK THE CITY OF OSHAWA WEB SITE FOR MORE DETAILS ABOUT THE SHUTTLE AND SCHEDULE OF EVENTS. DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED AT LAKEVIEW PARK ON CANADA DAY.

This is our first cache, and we wanted this to be kid friendly. We have really been enjoying our new hobby and all the new places we have been. One of the things we love about living where we do is the Canada Day celebrations at Lakeview Park. There is something for everyone in the family, and this year there is a new cache to find in the area. Of course our favourite part is the fireworks that end the day. The cache when placed contains around 40 short glowstick bracelets for the kids, Canada pencils, some Canada water bottle straps, a mini flashlight on a carabiner, a pen on a carabiner, and some Canada tattoos. There should be enough treats for the kids to each have something to get them in the Canada Day spirit. Feel free to trade, but don't worry-if you have 3 kids, you don't need to trade 3 items. :) I think I got enough glowsticks to go around.

This should be an easy find close to a trail, but there will be a very high muggle factor on Canada Day. Nearest access point is off of Simcoe St. south of Harbour. If you want to have a longer walk or bike ride, this is part of the trail that runs through the city all the way to the Oshawa Golf Course and is also easily reached from the waterfront trail.

UPDATE NOVEMBER 12, 2010 I thought this cache had been CITO'd when all of the covering brush and plants were cut and cleared away. Imagine my surprise when I found the original container while placing the new one! I had already checked the area it was found in too, so thanks to the city worker who must have brought it back, log book and swag still intact. I have updated DT to reflect the new updated location and coords.

Update Sept 26, 2011. Cache has been moved again, not quite as kid friendly as it used to be, but any kid above toddler stage should be able to get there. Cache is NOT at the big tree near the edge of the marsh since that is a flood prone area.
