Geocache Description:

Tokai-Juunikei (Tokai's twelve best scenery) was decided by a referendum in 1991 and this Kuji Rivermouth is one of them.

The rivermouth was about a kilometer north from this place but it was moved to this place in the 1970s.
From the beach, you can see the port of Hitachi, Tokai Nuclear Power Plant and the Hitachinaka Coal Power Station.
And there is a pine forest which was planted in the Taisho Period to keep the sand from the town. And it is a park now.

東海十二景は、1991年に住民投票によって決定され、この久慈川河口はその一つです。

かつて久慈川はここから数百メートルほど上流の場所で大きく北へ蛇行し、１キロほど北の場所で太平洋に注いでいましたが、度重なる洪水のため、昭和４０年頃に今の場所に河口が作られました。
ここの海岸からは、茨城港日立管区（日立港）や東海第二発電所、常陸那珂火力発電所が眺められます。
また、この場所には大正期に防砂の目的で植えられた松林があり、現在は公園として整備されています。
