Das Tal der Lutter ist in diesem Gebiet mit Süßwasserkalken angefüllt. Dabei handelt es sich um festes Material (Travertin) und um lockere Kalksande. Diese Gesteine entstanden vor ca. 5000 bis 10000 Jahren.
Im Travertin sind zum Teil versteinerte (inkrustierte) Pflanzenreste zu entdecken.
Der Wasserfall ist entstanden, weil in diesem Bereich hauptsächlich festes Travertin vorkommt.
Das Wasser der Lutter entspringt aus Muschelkalk und ist mit Karbonaten und Sulfaten angereichert, sodaß es auch heute noch zur Bildung von Süßwasserkalken in geringen Mengen kommt.
Um den Cache loggen zu können, müsst ihr folgende Fragen beantworten:
1. Wie hoch ist der Wasserfall?
2. Welche Vogelarten sind in der Schlucht unterhalb des Wasserfalles zu finden(3)?
Und ein Foto von euch und dem Wasserfall dem Logg beifügen.

The valley of the Lutter in this area is full with Süßwasserkalken. It is solid material (travertine) and to loose calcareous sand. These rocks originated from about 5000 to 10,000 years ago.
The travertine is partly fossilized (inlaid) plant remains to be discovered.
The waterfall is formed, because in this area occurs mainly solid travertine.
The water of the Lutter springs from limestone and is enriched with carbonates and sulfates, so it is still today the formation of Süßwasserkalken comes in small amounts.
