Fishin' Down Under Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Alpinebobl: I took a nice walk in the woods today, and fished my cache out of the tree. I guess the 1/4 mile walk and plethora of caches these days has limited the attempts at this over that last few years. Next spring, I'll see if I can find a more convenient placement for this, as it deserves more attention.

Geocache Description:

If you're fishin' down under in Australia.....do you have to fish UP???

This is intended to be a fun cache for kids of all ages....yes including us old folks. All fishing tackle and the "catch of the day" are hiding around gz....note: some assembly required. This is my 7 year old TJ's third cache hide (with help). Access is by fairly level trails good for walking or Mt. biking.

Do not park at the end of Rio Vista, as my neighbors there are unhappy with cachers parking in the culdesac. For closest access (and if you don't mind a short distance on dirt roads), take the 06 past the Sawtooth Trailhead and then take the first right on the 06-2 and drive to the end. From there take the left trail to the northwest, and at the first fork go left, and then left again at the next fork. Or just crosscountry on a direct line...it's not that hard. It's about a five minute walk from this point.

Another good access with no dirt roads is to start at the corner of Wild Lilac and Rio Vista where TJ's Most Excellent Adventure (GC1XY1D) begins. You can do that adventure, then hit Fishin' Down Under easily as they are very near each other. A third choice with a bit longer walk is to park at the Sawtooth Trailhead along the 06. Nearby is GC1TDK5 and GC1VCY0 and all the trails interconnect with each other.

County ordinance states, "No parking on shoulders from Nov. 1st to May 1st"......so maybe come back in spring.
