Squirrel's Cricket Cache Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
A “beginner” cache placed for the Lake Fairfax Geocaching Camp, Aug. 23 – 27, 2010; will remain in place after the camp. The park is open from dawn to dusk. This cache is located about 12 feet from a bridle trail, near the Cricket Field parking lot in the southeastern section of the park. (Sometimes the road to the cricket field is closed off-season, but you can walk to it from the parking near the restroom building.)
This cache is located between a bridle trail and a dirt foot/mountain bike trail, not far from a park boundary line; take the paved road from the park entrance to the picnic grounds and look for the sign for the Cricket Field; follow that road uphill to the paved parking lot. The trail system can be entered from the far end of the parking lot, or you can pick up the bridle trail where it crosses the south end of playing field #8. Please do not enter the private property adjacent to this part of the park. You may see deer and other wildlife here! Be careful of some old wire fence (not barbed wire) near the cache site, and be on the lookout for muggles passing by on the nearby trails. The container has a log book and room for some trade items; please replace so it will not be visible from the trail. You may want to walk a little farther downhill to see the creek at the bottom of its stream valley. This cache is placed at the request of and with permission from the Fairfax County Park Authority and conforms to all park regulations for the placement of geocaches.
