Geocache Description:

A beautiful Mosaic awaits visitors to this Cache!

The ‘Ocean Steps’ Mosaic adorns twenty-three stairs with a vibrant sea-inspired theme. Thousands of colorful chips of ceramic tile, create images of rolling waves, crabs, fish and other sea creatures. ‘Ocean Steps’ was the first community art project introduced by the Redondo Beach Public Arts Commission. This elaborate mosaic tile project was proposed by Redondo Beach artists, Debbie Collette and Patti Linnett and was generously funded by the King Harbor Association. "It's a true public art project because the community was involved," Laddon said. "So many people participated in doing it." It was dedicated in October of 2009.
The cache is near the 'South Bay' bike path and I highly recommend this mode of transportation. But there is public parking near the cache for a small fee.
