Geocache Description:

** Typical GRC, but right on a corner with a slight slope into the road. For many of you, GZ will probably not be kid friendly, unless you strap them onto your back. I believe it’s wheel chair accessible, but GZ is in a weird little spot that would require some care when grabbing due to slight incline. One or two feet out and you’re in the big race when it’s busy. Maybe. It’s my first cache and I’m probably just being overly cautious. BYOP.

Lap #1 of Youdad’s 3-Lap Beaverton-Area GeoCup

I love the creative caches, but it will take me forever to put one of them together. I do, however, have silly, funny cache containers that I hope last for a while once they are placed. You get a smiley AND you get to smile. That’s the hope, anyway. The title will make sense when you see the cache.

** I didn’t plan on a spot like this, but really really felt it had to be close to a Home Depot. Had to nuzzle it between several other nearby caches. BECAUSE OF THE NATURE OF THE CONTAINER DESIGN – and because I don’t want my first cache to be truly truly simple – PLEASE CONSIDER WRITING LOGS IN AUTO RACING LINGO. TERMS, PHRASES, QUOTES – ANYTHING FROM CAR RACING, OR THE DISNEY ANIMATED CARS, OR EVEN THE ANIMATED CARTOON SERIES SPEED RACER.

Jostle your way to the driver’s seat of your computer and heed the yellow checkered flag of creativity when discussing your recent pit stop in a lap of the Three-Car Youdad GeoCup. Yea, something cheesy like that. Or better. Preferably better.

I’ve always had a passion for comic books, so I might as well use the design and color of the cache container as an excuse to toss a bit of comic book trivia at folks in the guise of cache information. I remember Wyatt Wingfoot from reprints of his early appearances in the Fantastic Four. Johnny Storm (The Human Torch) goes off to college and winds up roommates and good friends with Wingfoot, a fictional Native American who has no super powers, but is an excellent marksman, a skilled hand-to-hand fighter, an excellent tracker, a talented animal trainer and – if I remember correctly – one heck of a race car driver. Wingfoot was createdby Jack “King” Kirby, who had a hand in nearly every major Marvel character from the beginning to the end of the 1960’s. Stan Lee gets all the credit, but it was Kirby who came up with the amazing ideas and put it all together visually. Kirby was a genius, but could write dialogue in a stilted or clunky manner (that’s where Lee came in). Still, Wingfoot was one of the few relatively modern and respectfully portrayed Native Americans of the time, which I think speaks highly of Kirby’s sensibilities.

By the way, I'd make my pit stop in the SE corner parking lot of Home Depot. But that's just me. Others would prefer a longer race from the Greek joint on the South side of HWY 26.
