Geocache Description:

not 100% sure of the history here. the story I have always been told is that a bloke called baker carved this monument out of a large dead tree over a long period of time while waiting for the mail to arrive each mail day. not much of it left now attempts at saving it was to little to late. there use to be animals carved into it. tin with swaps. under rock and leaf litter

we started placing caches of our own not just for our own pleasure but to attract trackables to the area to give the local kids that live in rural areas like this something to do I know of 3 different family's with the youngest child aged 7 that visit these caches just for the trackables some dont take them just record the number just to follow there progress others take them for very short periods and return them if you are going to take a trackable you are more than welcome to do so. after all that's what there all about but please leave another in its place . we have left many trackables in our caches they have all been removed and not one has been left to replace them. please make sure that if you are going to remove a trackable that there is at least 1 left in the cache when you leave.

Addition 11.12.2018:
I found the following article in the *Boorowa News* November 29, 2018

A unique addition: memorial gifted to Boorowa Museum and Historical Society
A unique wooden headstone dedicated to the memory of Frogmore stockman George Baker has been gifted to the Boorowa Museum and Historical Society.
Boorowa Museum and Historical Society President Ian Randolph said the memorial was given to the Museum earlier this week by the Baker family.
"It is intended to be restored and displayed in the museum here in Boorowa,” he said.
According to an undated article from the Yass Tribune, it is believed that, fearing he would be buried in an unmarked grave, Mr Baker fashioned the landmark from a living tree as a lasting monument.
“Squared with a broadaxe, the stump stands some 2.5m above the ground. Its designer decorated the stump with carvings of bush creatures such as kangaroos and emus, and a number of human heads, all wearing top hats,” the article says.
“As a reminder of the passing of time for mortal man, one side bears a carving of a clock face, complete with Roman numerals. On the other side is a larger than life head of a man.”
According to the article, Mr Baker died on November 6, 1886 and local legend says he is still buried where the memorial sat for more than 100 years, on the side of the road between Boorowa and Wyangala.
The article also says Mr Baker predicted the exact date of his death, however that has been dismissed as a myth due to the difference in the carving of the date and figures across the memorial.
