Va ser construït l'any 1935 per substituir un antic mercat descobert situat al mateix lloc.



És un edifici de caire racionalista, de grans dimensions, amb teulada a dues vessants. Les façanes s'articulen amb grans pilastres verticals que defineixen llargues i estretes finestres. El coronament amb un frontó partit, de tipus clàssic, li atorga un aire monumental.
