For a different kind of adventure, bring your swimming trunks for a dip in the Sunbeam Springs. The hot springs run into the river and are a fun spot to visit. It hasn't been a formal spot for taking a dip since the CCC days, but you can usually find several people laying around the river on a summer day.
Boiling water at 169 degrees F is piped beneath the highway from the springs and flows across a gravel beach into several popular pools at the river’s edge. Bathers can adjust the rocks to create a variety of soaking temperatures. Succeeding pools, each cooler than the one above, emerge as the river recedes through the summer. for adding river water. The historical bathhouse has recently been repaired and restored, and a stone outhouse in the same style has been built nearby. This work was done in conjunction with the Idaho Centennial Historical Site near Sunbeam Dam.
