Geocache Description:

Welcome to the new improved “Welcome to Youngstown” cache! The other one was completely over grown, so time to revise and revitalize the neighborhood!

MOTTO: “Young in Spirit….Ageless in Pride”.

Named after John Young, the village of Youngstown was established in 1854. However, it was settled as early as the 1790’s, due to it’s protection form “The Fort”. John Young actually lived on ‘the other side of the river’, but saw the potential on this side! He built a store on the landing at the river in 1809. Much of the town was destroyed in the War of 1812, however it was too good of an area not to rebuild. So by the 1840’s, the village had become re-established with many homes and stores.

Now days, the village is alive, especially in the summer, with hundreds of yachts, the Level Regatta, world-class fresh water fishing and the gateway to Old Fort Niagara.

NOT accessible from the Robert Moses…you have to get off in Youngstown!
You are looking for a container about the size of 3 film canisters. Enjoy your visit.
