Geocache Description:

Enter the Alpine Loop in Lake City headed towards Engineer Pass. This is a good road and you CAN navigate it without 4WD. The Cache is located just past 2 of the more familiar mines in Hinsdale County.

First you will encounter the Hard Tack Mine, which is now a museum. Next, you will come upon the Ute Ulay Mine, both of these mines are on private property. The Cache is located just as you re-enter public lands. Pull over at the historical by-way sign on the left. Cache is an army container full of items and a log book. It is located just off the road about 150' at 9263 feet.

We come to Lake City every summer and will upkeep the cache. If we cannot the owner of the campground we stay at has agreed too.
