Greetings,

It has been a while since I first looked at this cache. I can't find any recent responses about maintaining this cache so for the time being it will be archived and removed from the active cache listings. We are no longer leaving caches stay disabled for extended periods of time.

Groundspeak and the geocaching community appreciate your contributions to geocaching and I hope to see this cache back in operation soon.

If you can get it back up and running in the next week or so contact me to get it re-listed. Otherwise plan to move it slightly and set up a new cache page.

[green]Most problems can be solved with good communication so reply back to the reviewer and we will do everything possible within the guidelines to get your cache published. It is best to give me as much information as possible instead of saying nothing at all. This will speed up the process and we can get your cache published. [/green]

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

Permission obtained from Jeff at George Owens Nature Center. Cache is starting with Scout patches, a clock, etc.

Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America requires years of dedication and hard work. In addition to 21 required merit badges, each Scout must complete a project that . on average . requires 167 service hours. In 2008 alone, that translated to $16 million in service (based on the national volunteer hour value of $19.51).

This cache is part of a nationwide geocaching series called "Cache to Eagle". that showcases these special contributions.

Over its first 100 years, Scouting has provided millions of hours of service to communities across America. For our 100th Anniversary, we're celebrating that legacy with special service opportunities through, "A Year of Celebration, A Century of Making a Difference."

This cache will highlight one of the 12 points of the Scout Law, one of the 13 districts in the Heart of America Council, B.S.A. and an Eagle Scout project in the district.

A Scout is Obedient.
A Scout follows the rules of his family, school, and troop. He obeys the laws of his community and country. If he thinks these rules and laws are unfair, he tries to have them changed in an orderly manner rather than disobeying them.

The Blue Elk District serves eastern Jackson County Missouri and includes the following communities: Blue Springs, Buckner, Grain Valley, Independence, Oak Grove, Sibley and Sugar Creek Missouri. The district is organized to support the volunteer unit Scouters as they provide the programs of the Boy Scouts of America, to the youth of this area.

The bat house at the "bat house coordinates” was built by an Eagle Scout and he also made the bat facts sign. If you go to these coordinates, you can take a trail to the cache.

The Eagle Scout project #2 coordinates are at the front entrance of George Owens Nature Center. The center island of wildflowers was a second Eagle Scout project. The parking lot is also near these coordinates.
