Streghe, forze magiche e sacrifici rappresentano una miscela di
leggende e avvenimenti tragici dei tempi remoti della zona.
Lo Sciliar e la zona circostante sono elementi fondamentali nelle
storie delle streghe e nelle tradizioni sulle streghe. Ciò è dovuto
senz'altro alle circostanze in cui si sono sviluppati i processi di
Fié contro le streghe, che sono menzionati in molti documenti
storici e che sono noti ancora oggi.
Negli anni compresi tra il 1506 e il 1510, nel castello di Presule,
sede del tribunale di Fié, si sono svolti nove processi, i più
antichi condotti in tutto il Tirolo nei confronti delle
streghe.
Dinanzi alla corte, presieduta da Leonhard von Völs, accanito
persecutore di streghe, furono portate nove donne.
Le donne, processate e giustiziate in modo atroce (dal rogo allo
squartamento), venivano accusate di causare tempeste e rovinare il
raccolto, di partecipare a sabba infernali, voli notturni su scope,
uccisione di bambini non ancora nati, abiura e molti altri
misfatti.
E' in realtà con l'avvento del Cristianesimo che certi riti
ritenuti propiziatori vennero considerati poi diabolici e le donne
che li praticavano streghe.
Il Folklore si fonde con fatti documentati da fonti storiche:
nonostante i tempi bui della caccia alle streghe e dei processi
sommari del XVI secolo la gente del posto è comunque rimasta
affezionata all'immagine caratteristica della "strega sulla scopa",
diventata simbolo e mascotte pubblicitaria.
Nei pressi della Bullaccia si possono ancora ammirare i luoghi dove
le streghe si riunivano e celebravano i propri riti: sono "le sedie
e le panche delle Streghe" (Hexenstügle e Hexenbänke).
Si narra che la più vecchia ed autorevole tra le strghe si sieda
volentieri sulle panchine di Bullaccia per ammirare il panorama
circostante.
Nei loro viaggi notturni le streghe dello Sciliar amano riunirsi
nei pressi delle panchine prima di lanciarsi in un'orda compatta
verso la montagna, sorvolando con grida sfrenate l'Alpe di
Siusi.
Le streghe di tutta la zona si ritrovano a festeggiare in folli
raduni soprattutto il giovedì, sullo Sciliar.
Sulle panchine preparano le tempeste più violente e più antiche.
Sedute lì, fanno apparire nuvoloni neri carichi di tuoni e fulmini,
e persino nubi gialle gravide di grandine, che dallo Sciliar, dal
Corno del Renon e dalla Val Gardena si trascinano lente sopra
Castelrotto, Siusi e Fiè.
Se non si riesce a far suonare in tempo le campane, un temporale
infernale si scatena su tutta la zona, provocando enormi
danni.

Hexenbänke
Die vielen Legenden rund um die Schlernhexen werden von den
Hexenbänken in Puflatsch so quasi belegt.Die Seiser Alm und der
imposante Schlern sind voll von mythologischen und sagenumwobenen
Wesen, deren Dasein eng mit der Natur verbunden ist. Zahlreiche
Legenden und Sagen berichten von diesen gutmütigen und auch
bösartigen Kreaturen. So gibt es z.B. di Kräuterfrauen, die Kranken
die Farbe der Morgenröte auf die Wangen zauberten oder auch die
Salingen, die von König Laurin in Blumen verzaubert wurden. Und
natürlich haben hier rund um den Schlern auch die Hexen ihr Unwesen
getrieben.
Die Hexe ist im Volksglauben eine mit Zauberkräften ausgestattete
heil- oder unheilbringende Person, die im Rahmen der
Christianisierung auch häufig mit Dämonen, auch sogenannten
Teufeln, im Bunde geglaubt wurde. Noch nicht nachgewiesen ist, dass
der Begriff „Hexe“ vor der Christianisierung eine
Bezeichnung für kultisch tätige Personen war. Somit sind auch
Personen mit besonderem Wissen, niedere mythische Wesen oder
Göttinnen vor- bzw. nichtchristlicher Religionen in Betracht zu
ziehen.
Bekannt ist aber, dass der lange Schlernrücken ein sehr beliebter
Treffpunkt dieser Hexen gewesen sei. Bei den Hexenbänken handelt es
sich um Steinformationen in Form von Sesseln mit steinernen Arm-
und Rückenlehnen etwas oberhalb von Puflatsch. Man sagt, dort wäre
gern die Oberhexe gesessen um den Überblick über die gesamte Gegend
zu haben. Und bei den nächtlichen Sitzungen waren die Hexenbänke
der Ort, an dem mit ausgelassenem Geschrei und Hexenbeschwörung
laut gefeiert wurde.
Nüchterne Wissenschaftler bezeichnen jedoch diese Form der Steine
als natürliche, aber eigenartige Anordnung des Augitporphyr. Es
könnte sich aber auch um einen uralten neolitischen Kultort
handeln, an welchem große Göttinen verehrte wurden (8.000 - 1.000
v.Chr.).
Die furchteinflößende Form des sagenumwobenen Schlernmassives
bietet eine zauberhafte Umgebung und somit steht einer Wanderung zu
den Hexenbänken nichts mehr im Wege: Der Wanderweg von Compatsch
auf den Aussichtspunkt Puflatsch beträgt ca. 1,5 Stunden und sie
bewältigen einen Höhenunterschied von ca. 530 m.
