Geocache Description:

Murray Oaks History

1886 a passenger platform was built here.
1890 Sheep pens and a loading ramp were built nearby.
1898 Stockyards
1912 the name was changed to "Piako Station".
1948 it ceased to be a stopping place for passenger traffic.
1961 it was closed to all traffic and the yards removed.

Today it is a great little spot for travellers to stop for a picnic and a couple of times a year there are craft fairs held here.

The container is a small blue sistema. Contains log book and pen.
