Located in the Harry Tilton Park on Route 103B in Sunapee
The Ski Tow Hill Cache is located on the site of a lost ski area, the Sunapee Ski Tows. The ski tows were run by the town and serviced a whopping two "slopes" and one "trail off to the right (where you park your car now). This area ran for many years before it closed in the 70s due to a fire in one of the ski tow motor houses and the rising cost of insurance. It wasn't a very difficult place to ski, but it offered a great place for many local children to learn how to ski before "heading to the big hill" about 3 miles down the road.
Today, the hill/field hasn't changed all that much since it closed as a ski area. Remnants of the two ski tows can be found in the woods on the western side of the main slope. A new picnic area has been created near the top and a new parking area has been built off of NH Route 103B, where you will park to find this cache. There are also plans to build a playground here at the Harry Tilton Park in the near future, so the landscape may be changing soon.
The cache is a snap top container originally containing some toys and maple syrup from the Sunapee Turkey Trot. Update: This should be winter friendly to a point, though more than 6 inches of snow will bury it. It's not that far away from the parking area and it's great for spot for snowshoeing and perhaps some skiing!
