Lost The Plot: Cache now unfortunately archived :(

After 11 years, 281 Finds and 32 Favorites the fence which contained this cache has been replaced and there is no sign of the cache.

Perhaps we will place another “innovative cache” at a location nearby.

Huge thanks to all of the finders over the years

Geocache Description:

This Cache is located near a memorial stone known locally as the Jefferies Stone.

The stone was placed to commemorate the death of Richard Jefferies (1848-1887). He was best known for his writing on the countryside of late Victorian England. He published over 20 books in his lifetime both in fiction and non-fiction. The stone is located on a hillside and therefore has superb views over Swindon and the surrounding areas. More information about Richard Jefferies is available at this web site

There are two inscriptions on the stone which you may find interesting and appropriate - here is part of one of them:

Car parking is available at Barbury Castle at N51°29.033', W01°46.644' - the cache is located around a ¼ mile away.

Near the parking is an outdoor café, highly recommended for all-day breakfasts.

The cache itself is a Tupperware beaker full of the usual goodies and please don’t forget to sign the logbook. This location is quite exposed and the field the stone is in is often used for cow and sheep grazing.

Access to the cache is via a public right of way – there is no need to climb any fences.

This is a revival of a cache of the same name in the same location 3 years after it was archived.

PLEASE replace the cache the right way up and ensure it is hidden from view.
