The Truckee River Legacy Trail is a gift to the community, both present and future. The Legacy Trail starts near the entrance to the Truckee River Regional Park and extends eastward along the Truckee River for almost two miles. It can be enjoyed by hikers, bikers, walkers, kids, and dogs-on-leashes (and please remember the poop bag!) The trail starts as a paved curve around the first few tees of the disk golf course down towards the river. From the river barbeque area on, the terrain is fairly flat for the remainder of the current trail.
The goal of this cache is to introduce you to a very pleasant hike along the Truckee River. The hope is that you will take time for a quick wade in the river, maybe sneak in a picnic lunch, and perhaps view some of the local wildlife.
For information, see http://www.tdrpd.com/regional_park.html for Truckee River Regional Park, and (http://www.legacytrail.org/ ) for the Legacy Trail.
