Lawson's Quarry Discards Traditional Cache
spiffster05: There have been several NF reports but I am not able to visit in the near future to either locate or re-plant a cache in this location. Now that the spring has begun and tourists are making their way back to the island, its best to de-register this cache from the system.

Hidden in the discarded granite from Lawson's Quarry, near the southern parking lot. BYOP
An oft-visited local swimming hole, the Lawson's Quarry is located about a half mile north of the main part of the town of Vinalhaven.
Getting to the island is a commitment in itself. Bringing a car from the mainland takes much advanced planning. This cache is a short bike ride from town, or an even shorter drive. Park in the south parking lot, and bring a towel for a quick swim in the cool waters of this attraction!
Overall difficulty rating is a 2.5 just for the added effort to get to the island from Rockland, by ferry, charter plane, or lobster boat if you know someone local!
