Geocache Description:

This cache has been placed on Bald Mountain to honor JYousey's 100th find on July 2, 2010. While it is tradition to hide a golden ammo can for a cacher's 1000th find, I figured a copper colored ammo can would be worthy of a 100th find. Maybe a silver cache will follow at 500...

Where?

Cache has been placed in a location fitting of JYousey. A strenuous, though short, hike will bring you to a fire tower and a excellent view of the Fulton Chain Lakes. Enjoy the view from the tower or the "bald" summit; both are great. From the fire tower, continue along the ride for approximately a quarter mile to the GZ.

Up until 2002, the trail to the fire tower ran along the same route you will be traveling, due to the name. Due to a few accidents much further down as well as less than favorable trail conditions, the trail was moved.

What?

Container is a copper colored 30 cal ammo can well hidden. Cache is well stocked and will be checked upon every spring to ensure that it stays that way. Please rehide well (it is gold, after all).

How?

Park at the well marked trail head off of Co Rd. 93, off of NY 28. Again, signs on the main road make this very difficult to miss. Sign in at the trail register and follow the one and only trail to the summit.

Notes:

- While this is a safe location, it is a mountain top. Caution is advised when hiking with kids (they can certainly handle the hike and the cache) and pets.

- I imagine that this could get sketchy when there is snow on the ground. Ice and mountain ridges don't mix.

- Good footwear is necessary. While I've seen people climb it sandals, you're greatly increasing the chance of a ankle injury, especially if you do the cache.

-FTF prize is a box of reflective tacks and/or a hand carved signature rainbow trout.
