How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

Intended as Cache n Dash, parking is available in the layby on the A61 just to the North, on the way from Shirland. Alternative parking is available in the town centre.
Part of the site is overlooked by nearby houses, but the cache is accessible without being too visible (other than to the passing cars) and should be found quickly enough not to arouse suspicion.

Alfreton mine, closed in December 1967 with the loss of 560 jobs, was one of the biggest contribution factors to the early growth of the town.

Many young men from the area worked the mines, including Robert Watchorn who later moved to America and later funded the construction of the Watchorn church and Alma Watchorn Memorial park (see our other cache, GC29WZC "Watchorn wander").

This cache is a micro with just enough room for the log, please bring your own pen or pencil!

In plain sight of the A61, which can get busy and traffic does occasionally come to a stop, stealth is still needed. That or props.. Waving a camera about usually works for us.
