Geocache Description:

An easy driveby cache in a nice location.

Park at the cemetery carpark near the cache.

This area of Orkney is well worth exploring with nice views out across Wind Wick Bay, the East Mainland of Orkney and as far as the island of Copinsay.

188 men perished in Wind Wick Bay when HMS Opal and HMS Narborough were lost on the rocks of Hesta just north of the bay during the snow storm of 12 January 1918. There is a nice memorial close by at Linklater.

Windwick Bay is now popular for diving and birdwatching.

The cache is a 35mm film canister with log and pencil.
