Geocache Description:




Udny Castle, near Udny Green, was built by the Udny family around the 15th century and is still in the hands of family descendants today. It is a typical Scottish tower house with ornamental turrets. Additional wings were added in the 19th century but were demolished in the 1960s. In 1634 the family moved to their other property of Knockhall Castle near Newburgh, but after a devastating fire 100 years later, they returned to Udny.

The castle is not open to the public but can be viewed through the trees near to the cache location.
