A cache at a beautiful stream crossing in the woods - what could be finer?
This trail does not get too much use, but it is on the route of my favorite way to run around Squak Mountain, and this beautiful stream is just one of the reasons. There are several great ways to get here, my favorite is to start at the state park entrance, go up Bullitt Gorge and Valley Connector to West Peak trail, to Chybinski and down. Then you can continue around on West Access and Eastside to Phils Creek and up Ol Griz, and then down the way you came or you can take Summit down to Phil's Creek, etc. The only thing wrong with that route is that you miss most of the West Access Trail, which is also very nice. How about starting at Hwy 900, coming up West Access (with it's other stream crossings and an erratic), then take Chybinski up to West Peak and Bullitt Fireplace to Central Peak, down Ol Griz to East Side, and then back down West Access? That's great, too!
Oh well, lots of choices makes for lots of fun!
This cache is available just off the trailside, without your feet leaving the trail. It's not right at the crossing, but up the hill towards West Access just a little ways!
There is no "cache-stuff" in the container, just a logbook. But feel free to bring some to include.
