River View Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

xGolddiGGersX: Thanks for your patience. We have decided to archive this cache. It's become a very heavily used area and we've had trouble keeping this cache in place before. Maybe someone will find another nice location nearby. There is nothing left of this cache now.

The entrance to this Columbia River access area is at the city of Rufus Oregon.
(visit link)

The cache is easily accessed but is somewhat near a steep bank on the river so please watch out for little ones who might wonder out near the edge.

Some history about the area from the Rufus website:

The origins of Rufus began in 1884 with the arrival of Rufus C. Wallis from Tennessee. The first name of the town was Wallis Station in honor of Mr. Wallis who ran a ferry boat and a ware house and was considered the second largest wheat shipper on record. The early town site consisted of approximately five acres which Wallis surveyed, platted and deeded to the city out of his homesteaded area in 1892. Rufus Wallis eventually moved to Klickitat, Washington but later returned to Rufus where he spent his remaining years.
