Geocache Description:


Trees of Alabama Series: Northern Red Oak - (Quercus rubra Fagaceae ). Deciduous hardwood found commonly in all regions of Alabama. The cache container is a camoed pill bottle. The acorn cap of a Northern Red Oak covers only the top of the acorn like a beret. The wood is commercially important and used for flooring, furniture, and cabinets. Acorns are eaten by game birds, deer, bear and many small mammals. There is a picture of a Northern Red Oak and it's leaves on the cache log. There is a parking turn in area near the cache. Please return cache as found.
