One of the attractions of Saudi Arabia, the Old Dir'aiyah at Riyadh is a magnificent historical site. Located on the outskirts of northwestern Riyadh.
An erstwhile ruler of the Al Saud clan built the Old Dir'aiyah in the year 1466. This fortress was the residence and stronghold of the ruling family of Saudi Arabia until the early 20th century.
In 1974, the government decided to restore the Old Dir'aiyah. The ruins of the first capital of Saudi Arabia consist of walls, houses and palaces. Some of which have been restored now.
