Geocache Description:


Trees of Alabama Series: Common Persimmon - (Diospyros virginiana Ebenaceae). Deciduous hardwood found commonly in all regions of Alabama. Bark is black and blocky like an "alligator hide". Fruit is a pulpy edible berry. The wood is hard and used for turnery. The fruit is eaten by people, many birds and animals. Unriped fruit is very bitter. There is a picture of a Common Persimmon and it's leaves on the cache log. The container is a camoed pill bottle. Please be careful retrieving this cache so to not damage this recovering tree and gently return cache as found.
