Geocache Description:


Trees of Alabama Series: Eastern Hophornbeam - (Ostrya virginiana Betulaceae). Deciduous hardwood found commonly in all regions of Alabama on moist well drained soils. Is an understory tree. The wood is hard and pale and used in specialty items. The seed is eaten by turkey and other birds as well as small animals. There is a picture of an Eastern Hophornbeam and it's leaves on the cache log. The container is a small camoed Lock-N-Lock. Please return and hide cache as found
