Structural system: leaning steel suspensions on the pylons, continued supports and cross-lane steel "ortotróp" girder. It's buliding has been planned to the World Expo (Expo'96), it was necessary to relieve the surronunding bridge of Budapest. Another aim to make connection to the Hungária ring road and the southern sector of könyves Kálmán boulevard and the fast developing areas of South Buda. Mainly to the Szerémi and Budafoki main road. The bridge has started to build in 1992 and it was opened for the traffic in October of 1995. This is the first of Budapest's Danube road bridges which was named from a geographical location and not from a person. The few last option to named the bridge were: Zoltán Latinovits (actor) or Saint Laszló King, Kossuth bridge, Saint István king bridge, Mátyás bridge and Peace bridge.

Szerkezeti rendszer: acél pilonokra ferderudas felfüggesztésu, folytatólagos többtámaszú, szekrény keresztmetszetu, ortotróp pályás acél gerenda tartó. A megépítésére az Expo'96 néven megrendezendo világkiállítás kapcsán került volna sor. Szükség volt rá, hogy tehermentesítse Budapest addigi legdélebbi közúti hídját, a Petofi hidat; valamint össze kellett kötnie az akkor kiépített Hungária körgyuru déli szektorát a Könyves Kálmán körutat a Dél-Budai oldal fejlodo területeivel. Foleg a Szerémi és a Budafoki úttal. 1992-ben kezdték el építeni, és1995 októberében adták át a forgalomnak. Ez Budapest dunai közúti hídjai közül az elso, amelyik nem egy személyrol, hanem földrajzi elhelyezkedésérol kapta elnevezését. A hidat legutoljára Latinovits Zoltánról akarták elnevezni, de felvetodött még a Szent László híd, a Kossuth híd, a Szent István híd, a Mátyás király híd és a Béke hídja elnevezés is. |
