Geocache Description:

Callahan Cache is a 3 part multi-cache. Terrain is wooded trails with some rocks and roots in the trail surface; it is not flat but not especially steep. Please understand: you must visit three locations and sign the log in the ammo can at the third and final location to complete this cache.

Callahan Cache takes you into Callahan Park, hundreds of acres of public space in the northwest corner of Framingham. People who think of Framingham as Route 9 and shopping malls will be surprised to find this very rural corner of town. The area is even larger because it's directly connected with several Sudbury Valley Trustees properties, and in fact while doing the cache you'll visit both SVT and State Park land.

Because the park is so large it didn't seem fair to have seekers just take a quick hike in and out, so this was made a 3 part multi-cache that will allow you to see more of the park. It should not be overly difficult but you should plan about an hour (assuming you don't get seriously lost!) and plan for trails that have leaves, mud, embedded rock and roots and in some places are somewhat steep.

The initial cache should not be that hard to find...it's currently a small green pill bottle near a major trail (I say "currently" as it's had to be replaced a couple of times since the cache was first set up). It's been moved slightly from the listed coordinates to get it away from the poison ivy. Open the container for the location and description of part 2. In turn, part 2 will give you the location of part 3, the final cache which is currently an ammo box with finder's buttons and other typical goodies.

The main parking lot is on Millwood Street across from the golf club, at 42° 19.23N 71° 27.80W. The lot is pretty large, but gets lots of users. A secondary parking lot is on Edmands Road at 42° 19.88N 71° 28.53W and is much less used. Parking in the main lot will result in a somewhat shorter trip and avoid some of the steeper trails.
