In-situ concrete, grooved to imitate masonry, a lodge and 2
large square concrete carriage-gate piers, once the entrance to
“The Towers”.
Build in 1873 in an Italianated style, The Towers at Heybridge
was the home of Mr. E.H.Bentall and was set in a beautiful
landscaped garden. Together with the surrounding boundary wall and
lodge, it was constructed in reinforced concrete, Bentall being a
pioneer in the use of this material. The house was destroyed in the
early 1960’s and, together with its gardens, replace by the
present housing estate.
