The Sun Peaks Alpine Trail system is best accessed by taking the
Sunburst Express Chair up to Mid-Mountain. Trails start at 1850m
(6070'), heading west and north into Crystal Bowl, West Bowl, and
the Peak. The highest point is Mount Tod at 2152m (7060'). The
longest trail is the West Bowl Loop. Geocachers should leave enough
time to catch the last chair down the mountain at the end of the
day's hiking and geocaching.
The top of the Burfield Chair is sometimes nicknamed Top of the
World. It sits at 2080m (6824'). The ridge runs north-south and at
the south end is a viewpoint. In winter this is the top of the
Chief which runs steeply toward the Burfield mid-station. Bring
your camera for this cache.
