schnuz: Out for an afternoon team walk to check on this one after an aborted attempt this morning when we were hit by a blizzard before we had even got to the first field [:O]. This afternoon looked more promising (although it had been wintery weather all day on and off) but the perceived temp meant the dogs were fitted out with their full body fleeces. I had the double layer of hoody and big coat and utilised the arm end warmers for the majority of the distance, only taking them off reluctantly when required. On paper the walk across the fields should have shaved at least ten minutes off the walk but it more likely added ten minutes onto the walk, and we went back along the road [:O]. There is a reason why we don't walk across the fields in winter on the morning walk, which applies just as well to walking to this point [:I] [:D].
Fortunately the walking boots were just about up to the job and we finally exited the quagmire of the field we don't normally cross and were back onto a well formed track with The Team muttering “well that was a very poor excuse for a walk” [:O] [:D]. We finally arrived at GZ and were slightly dismayed to find that the reports were, if anything, played down somewhat [:O]. With The Team restrained out of harms way I carefully worked my way to where I knew the cache should be. Before I did any random groping I spotted the cache lodged in an area that it shouldn't be and carefully retrieved it but still drew a little bit of blood in the process [:(].
The cache looked fairly OK (and turned out to be reasonably serviceable upon post mortem) but the cache area now has a lot to be desired [:(]. Some of the barbed wire fencing has been replaced but the spare end, that wasn't long enough to be useful, has just been left roughly coiled in the area. Unfortunately that area is just where you want to go if you wanted to find this cache so the easiest and safest option is just to archive it [^].
The cache has been removed [^] so don't bother going to look for it as there's nowt there but barbed wire [:(].
