Roadside West Otago.
This is well off any tourist route or, for that matter, any road
going to anywhere, it would appear.
The container is a 200ml white Systema with a logbook, pencil
&a and a stash note.
You don't need to go into the ex school grounds to find this.
The old school buildings are now privately owned as a holiday
home.
Wilden School
There does not seem to be very much information available in the
public domain about this school. The following has been filched
from a public library source.
"Wilden School was opened in a hut lent by Weatheralls in 1935. A
new school was built in 1939. After much controversy it was moved
in 1945 to be more accessible to children from the Moa Flat area.
It closed in 1988 and all the children were given a photograph
album. Now the children are transported to Heriot School."
All I can add to this brief history are two further facts I have
gleaned.
A jubilee function was held to commemorate the 50 years from 1935 -
1985.
A Stewart Carter was a Wilden School Headmaster.
If I am able to find out more in the future I will make additions
to this history.
The cache is NOT in the ex school grounds!
Considerable sneaky stealth will be required when the holiday home
owners are in residence!
