Surfski1: Found this straight away and log was full and very damp. As I don't travel this way often to maintain this cache I'm archiving it.

Geocache Description:

Originally the cache was set just up the quiet lane, through a gate by the side of a house that looked like it was taking you through their back garden, but it wasn't. Its now been moved near to the car park at the kilns and off the SSSI boundary.
If you have time, take a peaceful walk along the bank of the

Montgomery Canal.

Monty as it is known today runs for 38 miles from a junction with the Llangollen Canal near Ellesmere in Shropshire to Newtown in Montgomeryshire, now part of Powys..
The cache is sited not far from the David Jones statue, so we placed it as close as possible to this beautiful tranquil location as it is adjacent to the main A483 providing an opportunity to break the journey up or down from North to South Wales for a stretch of legs.

David Jones lived in Dolanog house in Welshpool and was also a coal merchant, maker of Malted Barley for Brewing.
David Jones was the lime-burner here in the 1820's and his men would load his kilns with limestone and coal from the canal boats at this Wharf.
Producing lime was a continuous process throughout the summer and it began here when the canal opened.
The canal closed in 1828 but the towpath was opened in 1936 and is run by volunteers.
