WCM1988: Welcome to the Wayne County Museum and congratulations on finding our geocache!
This building was constructed in 1927 by the Goldsboro Woman's Club as a headquarters for their club. It was used for many community events including becoming a USO during World War II. Many military personnel even met their future spouses at one of the numerous USO dances! Later in 1988, the Wayne County Historical Association bought the property from the Woman's Club and opened it as the Wayne County Museum, today's repository for Wayne County's history. Inside are several permanent exhibits and one rotating exhibit. We host many events and programs, one of which is High Tea, as well as renting out the 2nd floor ballroom for special events.
If you'd like to know more, step inside or follow us on the web at waynemuseum.org. We are also on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Happy Geocaching!
