För ett tag informerade vi dig om att allt inte verkade stå rätt till med din cache och bad dig då ta reda på hur det stod till, samt åtgärda eventuella problem. Då det inte syns några tecken på att du gjort det, kommer jag nu att arkivera din cache.

Jag ber dig plocka in ev. rester av din cache så att de inte ligger kvar och skräpar ner.

Kvarnen / The Mill

En "kopia" av gamla Tollebols Kvarn (GCXQFV) av NaturalBlue

En stor del av texten nedan är en direkt kopia av NaturalBlue gamla arkiverade cache. Enda "stora" skillnaden är en ny plats

Tollebols kvarn är en hjulkvarn daterad tillbaka till 1875. Den byggdes med fyra stycken kvarnar. Någon gång under 30-40-talet togs en kvarn ur drift och vattenhjulet fick ge sin kraft åt ett cirkelsågverk. Cirkelsågen som låg mellan dammen och kvarnen är idag borta. Byggnaden och de kvarvarande kvarnarna är de ursprungliga. Endast reparationer och underhåll har gjorts.

I anslutning till kvarnen finns en ”stickhyvel” – spånhyvel. Byalaget har låtit uppföra en liknande byggnad med hyvel, som drivs med vattenhjul.

Den nuvarande kvarnen är inte den första som funnits på platsen. Det finns belägg för att kvarnverksamheten fanns här redan på 1600-talet. I den byggnaden fanns två kvarnar, alltså en mindre kvarn än den nuvarande.

Nu finns där ett café som har öppet sommartid. Prova gärna en våffla.

This water-mill from 1870’s has water channels and dam constructions. There have been two types of water-mills in Sweden, the smaller household mill and the larger wheel mill. Tollebol is as so-called wheel mill.

Wheel mills are mentioned in writing in Sweden from the 13th century. Tollebol is not the first wheel mill in this place.The first notes of a mill go back to the 17th century.

The idea behind the wheel mill is that a water-wheel works an axle which in it’s turn is connected to a cog-wheel which works an upper millstone. Underneath is an immobile millstone.
The space between the stones can be changed and gives the roughness of flour.

Tollebol mill was built with four mills, but one was taken out of use around 1930-1940. The water-wheel was then used for a saw, which later was removed.

The buildings and the remaining mills are the same as in 1875.

Tollebol mill is owned by Åmåls Kommun (the local community), and Åmåls västra byalag, the local development group, have the disposal of the mill.

Now there is a café which is open during the summer.
