Casey Park is on the former site of a large Iron Ore mine active in the 1880's. The Trail system runs through the old mine area and is very rocky with the remains of the mining operation. The trail is easy to follow and the Cache is less then 100 ft. from the trail. Casey Park is open year round from 9am till dusk. There is a historical marker nearby. Picnic area and public restrooms (summer) are also available.

Congratulations to Wheelygood for being FTF

Update Fall 2011; It seems that everyone wants to take a shortcut and park on the West side of the park and save a few feet of walking. That’s fine but be aware of the Steep ascent and pay attention to which trail you use. (Most of the shortcutters wind up on the WRONG side of the lake!) When I placed the cache the west end of the park was very primitive and I didn’t want anyone entering there, but this summer the town installed a parking area, a bridge to cross to the proper side, and stairs on the steep part. I am now posting parking and Trailhead coordinates for the west side. Be sure to cross the bridge!

June 2014; The cache has gone missing, and it seems that the Seaway Trail Geo-Trail promotion is over. I have replaced the cache with a plastic container, but there is no longer a custom hole-punch. Enjoy the park, and happy caching!
