From the depths of Harriman State Park all the way out to the
Wurtsboro Shawangunk Ridge Trail, the Long Path travels through
multiple roadways in Orange County. Much of the trail can be hiked,
biked or even driven. For your caching convenience, this is in
addition to cornfarrell's series of all drive-up caches. Thank you
cornfarrell for introducing this pathway to the caching masses.
This trailhead parking area is within the boundary of the
Woodbury Flood Control Project, incorporated by the New York State
Department of Environmental Conservation. Underneath ground level,
in accordance with the nearby stream, the floodplain is under
constant management and regulation, preventing any dramatic change
in water levels for the town. Although it's entirely fenced in, you
can see the array of machinery hard at work all around you.
As for the cache, it may be tricky, it may not, it all depends
on your depth of perception in finding a micro. Get it? Depth?
Flooding??? Hah! Tough crowd!
By the way, I double-checked my coordinates on google satellite
view and this cache is outside the 150' radius of railroad track
proximity, so there is no need to ever go up the opposing trail
toward the tracks. Trains are cool, but not when they're moving
close to you.
Good luck, and I hope you enjoy this section of the Long
Path!
Congrats GOEX & Crew on FTF!
