This is #1 in a series of local geocaches designed to RE-stimulate the weary caching senses you had the first time you went out looking for these little treasures—before they became so common. Each cache is hidden for those of you who want to sharpen your geo-noggins, and don’t want to spend hours on a stark, grueling hunt-n-find (such as those dreaded ivy caches). Each cache name contains 3 initials—an abbreviated description of the TYPE of cache you are looking for (“C” always stands for “Cache”)—and should help you when you get to the cache location. Everything else is pure geo-sense.
No additional hints should be necessary, except this: DON’T EXPECT THE OBVIOUS! Oh, and have fun!
Of course, you knew what cache HAD TO BE number one in THIS series. This style has to be the grand-daddy of common, simple, overused, easy-to-find caches. Almost every urban area has one, and most larger cities have way too many. Here in the Bay Area, we have had at least five of them. They're great for adding quick smileys, but not usually very challenging. THIS cache, however, is NOT the usual. If you don't spot it right off the bat, just keep looking (and use your noggin). Originally there was a fake "dummy" cache here (which I called an "Oooops Log") that suggested cachers sign it as well, as a "punishment", for thinking this might be a normal LPC. You can read the early logs that are often humorous; however the fake cache has since been removed.
Thank you to “Whosit and Whosits Girl”, who graciously archived their 7-year-old (wow!) LPC cache to make room for this one.
*PLEASE BE SURE THIS CACHE REMAINS "INVISIBLE".
LOCATION: Though this Safeway has gone through a number of remodels and renovations to make it more attractive and inviting, it has been faithfully serving the Coos Bay community since 1935.
Hooray for Steve 'n' Nancy, who get the FTF honors--both of them (lol)--for this cache. Good job, you two!
