Geocache Description:

The cache is a canister hidden on the river front in Marloth Park. There is a cluster of 3 hippo pools in the river and there were 5 hippo and 8 Waterbuck (Kobus ellipsiprymnus) there on the day the cache was hidden. A sedan car can get to within a few meters of the cache, and disabled person would be able to locate the cache, but would have difficulty in reaching the actual container.

Marloth Park is a nature conservancy bordering on the southern most part of the Kruger National Park (KNP) The KNP and Marloth Park (MP) are seperated by the Crocodile river and a high voltage electric fence. Marloth has a small permanent community with a small shopping centre with builder supplies, general dealer laundromat, petrol station, restaurants, self catering guest houses and lodges.

Marloth Park is about 1548Ha of which 34% has been kept as unspoiled parkland, and all the animals (Zebra, Gnu, Impala, Giraffe, Kudu, Duiker, bush-pig and more) roam free among the approximately 1800 houses currently in the park. MP is about 11km from one entrance gate to the other.

There is about a 20 minute drive from Marloth Park to the Crocodile River Bridge Gate into the Kruger Park. Komatipoort is the nearest town, and the nearest large town/city is Nelspruit 110 KM to the west of Marloth Park.
Marloth is about 1/2 hour drive from the Mozambique border, and about 40 minutes drive from the Swaziland border at Jeppes Reef. This makes Marloth Park a popular holiday getaway and a base for day-trips to Maputo, Piggs Peak Casino and into the Kruger Park. Day trips to the Blyde River canyon, Pilgrims Rest and the Sudwala caves and the Riverside Casino in White River are also common.

The main road in Marloth Park (Olifant str.) is tarred and all other roads are gravel.
